For the benefit of all beings, Avalokiteshvara made a vow, stating, "If in the future I am able to bring benefit and happiness to all sentient beings, may I be endowed with a thousand hands and a thousand eyes." The term "thousand" symbolizes boundlessness and completeness, with "a thousand hands" representing the infinite and vast compassion, and "a thousand eyes" symbolizing the perfect and unobstructed wisdom.

The image of Holding Treasure Avalokitesvara is one of compassion, with a gentle expression and a string of prayer beads in both hands. As sentient beings, we hold prayer beads and devoutly recite the name of Guanyin Bodhisattva. But what does the Bodhisattva recite while holding the beads?

In fact, the Bodhisattva is chanting: Guanyin Bodhisattva! This is because it’s a reminder that "relying on self is better than relying on others." When we chant the name of Guanyin Bodhisattva, we are not asking the Bodhisattva to solve problems that we should handle ourselves. Instead, we pray for the Bodhisattva’s blessing, seeking the confidence and strength to fulfill our wishes.
